THE BOOK OF CHANGES: NOTES AND GESTURES is a collaboration between
Ted Goodden, visual artist, and Cornelia Hoogland, poet. The exhibition took place in June, 2017, at the Comox Valley Art Gallery, in Courtenay, B.C., Angela Somerset, curator. The I Ching originates in China, and has Taoist Buddhist and Christian influences, with contributions by Confucius. Carl Young wrote the forward it to the addition that Ted and I use and our practice is influenced by John Cage, who popularized the I Ching in North America. There are 64 possible situations that humans cycle through, represented by 62 hexagrams.
